Determination of the reference weight with the elmor C3 counter

When using counting scales the reference weight of a given part must be determined very accurately in each case. Normally a certain number of parts are weighed; afterwards the average weight is calculated. This procedure has practical limits e.g. with very irregular parts like seeds or with parts within the mg range and/or with dimensions under 1mm, e.g. loose SMD parts.

In these cases, a large quantity of sample parts must be weighed to get a representative average value, but the small and light parts can hardly be handled manually.

With an elmor C3-Counter and a precision scale the reference weight can be determined automatically. A large sample size (e.g. a few 100 or more) can be chosen to achieve a high statistical relevance. The number of the counted parts and the determined weight are transferred to a PC which computes the reference weight directly. The normally faulty manual operations (using a wrong quantity, typing errors when dividing the measured weight by the number of parts, reading wrong values of weight or reference weight) are eliminated; the determined average weight can directly be used by other applications. All relevant values are stored for retraceability.
